The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, will implement an initiative to improve employee satisfaction, performance, and retention. The program will focus on improving the employee experience in three areas: roles and salaries, financial well-being, and health and emotional well-being. The museum will contract a human resources consultant and hire a project manager to assist in developing targeted resources guided by employee surveys, interviews, and all-staff retreats. Based on employee needs, staff will organize human resources presentations with community partners. The goal of the project is to improve overall employee satisfaction, performance, and create a welcoming workplace for all employees. The project will benefit current and future employees and serve as a model for other museums.
