Ford's Theatre

Ford's Theatre Society will conduct a year-long capacity building initiative to offer equitable access to its historic site and museum exhibitions for visitors with a range of special needs. Project activities will begin with a two-day needs assessment and solutions-defining workshop under the guidance of an advisory committee composed of museum and cultural institution professionals with experience addressing accessibility challenges. Following the workshop, the museum's staff will create a roadmap to implement proposed solutions and a sustainable training program. Consultants will administer staff training and evaluate effectiveness. The project directors will work with training consultants to develop protocols and resources for incorporating access training into new-hire orientation. To generate awareness for improvements, the museum will establish a communications strategy to identify community stakeholders and sustain audience engagement.
