The Christ Church Preservation Trust will engage professional conservators to treat four items in its historic collection that have been identified as fragile through previous collection assessment. Identified items include The Vestry minutes from 1845-1866; the Rev. Benjamin Dorr's travel journal in the early mid-19th century; and two financial documents-a ledger covering the years 1836-1895, and a journal from 1836-1862.. The museum has been urged to provide treatment before any further handling or exhibition of the items. The project will also include the restoration of two key artifacts from the collection-a highly detailed model of the church made in 1866 and an 18th-century bier. The museum's archives are accessed by over 3,300 researchers annually, from established historians to students working on dissertations, to amateur genealogists. Conservation of the documents will ensure their preservation for future generations of researchers and the general public. The museum will organize an exhibition about the conservation in the spring of 2018.
