Log Number: MA-31-17-0401-17

The Connecticut Historical Society will undertake a film digitization project to catalog, digitize, and improve storage conditions for selected items from its motion picture film collection, which provides insights into the lives and culture of 20th -century Connecticut residents and communities. The society's collections staff identified 73 films as highest priority due to historical relevance and high danger of obsolescence or deterioration. The society will update catalog records for each film selected; digitize the films and make the digitized versions available online through the Connecticut Digital Archive; and improve the storage situation for the originals by transferring the films into new, breathable cans that meet archival standards, and placing the cans in a newly purchased cold storage freezer.
