The Florida Museum of Natural History will support the needs of research and museum communities by improving the curation of its fluid preserved mammal collection. These specimens are used for research and education around the world, providing information about biodiversity, anatomy, and morphology. The museum will transfer specimens into fresh ethanol for long-term preservation, assess each specimen's condition, update information in its database, and print new archival labels for each container, replacing the old labels which are disintegrating and losing information. The project will enable the museum to implement best practices for the curation of its fluid preserved natural history collection.
