Log Number: MA-31-14-0513-14
Smith College Museum of Art will conserve eleven objects from its collection, including six paintings, two early American pastel portraits, and three pieces of sculpture in order to support the museum's strategic goals of preserving objects in their care and using those objects to educate. The Williamstown Art Conservation Center will perform necessary cleaning, stabilization, and remounting of the objects. The conservation efforts will allow several at-risk pieces to be exhibited or used for education al programming, making them accessible to museum visitors, restoring their aesthetic integrity, and guaranteeing their long-term stability in a condition that reflects the artists' intentions.
