Old Depot Museum

Franklin County Historical Society (FCHS) will increase part-time staff hours, create a hard-wired network among three computer workstations, and purchase PastPerfect 5.0 software and upgrades in order to catalogue and rehouse approximately 600 cubic feet of uncatalogued archives collections and integrate them into its collection management system. These collections, both unique and artificial (organized by subject but divorced from original provenance), include records of Indian land ownership, Indian agent records, records of the permanent Ottawa, Kansas Chautauqua camp, and records of Franklin County rural schools. The project will enable staff and researchers to readily identify all FCHS relevant collection materials available for any subject and to identify items to digitize for web publication as part of the archives' normal work flow after the project's completion.
