Northern Illinois University (Center for Burma Studies)

Log Number: MA-30-19-0712-19

The Center for Burma Studies at Northern Illinois University will improve the preservation, safety, and security of nearly 3,000 objects in its collections by upgrading its storage conditions. The museum will purchase new compact storage systems, additional shelving for oversized storage, and more art and textile racks. Museum staff will complete condition reports and photograph objects in a designated workspace. The project team will also create custom mounts for the objects in the workspace and move them to their permanent storage locations. Both graduate and undergraduate students will assist with the project and receive training in object care and handling. The students will also learn how to create storage mounts. The project will result in greater access and use of the collections by the university community.
