American Swedish Institute

The American Swedish Institute will catalog its archival collections and provide public access through a searchable online database. In response to a preliminary assessment of the collections, the project will address the deterioration of archival materials due to overhandling and poor storage conditions. The museum's collections manager will hire, train, and guide the work of a project archivist and archival assistant. This team will catalog 300 archival collections, noting and addressing materials in need of conservation activities, and add records of each material to the museum's online database. The project will unify several partially-implemented systems documenting materials in need of conservation treatment. Expanded online access for researchers, scholars, and historians will encourage a deeper exploration and understanding of the collections for scholarship and public programming.
