Colorado College (Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College)
Log Number: MA-30-19-0624-19
The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College will implement the second phase of a longer-term project to improve the documentation, preservation, and accessibility of its collection of Native American, Hispanic, Spanish Colonial, and 20th century American art. The museum will launch the project by identifying priority items from its collections for digitization based on input from a community survey. The museum will hire a digital collections assistant and a photographer to work with designated staff. Based on survey results, the project team will photograph, research, and prepare records for 3,000 pieces from the permanent collection. Multiple images of the fully catalogued works of art will be publicly available through a collections portal on the museum's website. The project will allow faculty, scholars, teachers, cultural groups, and tribal organizations to access the collections for teaching and learning.
