Andrew Jackson's Hermitage

Log Number: MA-30-19-0464-19

Andrew Jackson's Hermitage will ensure best practices for the care and management of its collections by developing a long-range collections and conservation plan. The project will begin with a review of all existing policies and documents relating to collections. The museum will then contract with specialist conservators to update the institution's conservation survey of collections, examine current environmental conditions, and conduct a detailed conservation survey of selections from the textiles collection. Additional consultants will provide guidance on current practices in the management of archaeological collections and records, and staff will inventory the museum's collection of architectural fragments and assess and define the institutional archives. The work will result in the creation of the new collections and a conservation plan as well as providing information to guide future collections storage improvements.
