The Michigan History Museum will implement its institutional plan for improvements to environmental conditions for its collections by retrofitting a new storage space in order to protect and provide greater access to the artifacts that tell Michigan's stories. The museum will plan for the new storage infrastructure, clean and seal floors in the new space, work with a moving contractor, and hire a temporary move coordinator to physically move the collections, install compact shelving, and then move collections back into the new storage furniture. Upon the project's completion, the museum will share details about the upgrade as an example of a successful retrofit of an existing warehouse into a collections facility that meets professional standards of care.
