Missouri Historical Society
Log Number: MA-30-18-0009-18
The Missouri Historical Society will assess, rehouse, and create an index for 65 linear feet of original negatives and prints produced during the 1940s by the Sievers Commercial Photography Studio. The index will catalog an estimated 9,100 photographic job assignments, and select 3,000 negatives for item-level cataloging and digitization. Selection for digitization will be based on both subject matter and condition, with the most endangered negatives then placed in freezer storage. The staff archivist for photographs and prints will oversee project activities, and the museum will hire a full-time temporary project archivist and a part-time temporary digitization and cataloging specialist to assist with the work. The museum will provide access to and promote the use of the material by publishing the index, all job and item-level records, and all digitized images to its online collections site, and by making all the images freely downloadable.
