The Washington State Historical Society will catalog, digitize, and make its 7,415-piece Native and Arctic American Collections accessible online to researchers and the general public. The collections include over 2,000 Native American baskets from the Pacific Northwest, with the majority from Puget Sound Salish tribes, an archaeological collection of Clovis stone and bone tools, and a rare collection of Coast Salish Spriti Canoe Ceremony items that includes spirit boards, three-dimensional human carvings and paddles. The identification, cataloging, and digital imaging of artifacts will make detailed descriptions and professional images available for each artifact in the collection. The completely digitized and categorized collection will preserve the historical artifacts for use by the museum and general public.
