Buffalo Bill Historical Center

The Buffalo Bill Historical Center will complete a two-year Picturing Buffalo Bill project to digitize 6,000 photographs in its McCracken Research Library related to the life and career of William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Staff will scan, catalog, and upload images to expand the “Buffalo Bill Online Archive” on the museum’s website, along with subject headings and descriptive metadata. The project will improve access; protect original images from further handling; and give scholars, students, teachers, museum staff, and online visitors a more complete, searchable online representation of the photographic collection. The expanded resource will help staff produce exhibitions and displays, and support numerous outreach and educational programs.
