Harriet Beecher Stowe Center

Log Number: MA-30-13-0565-13

The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center will purchase and install a new mechanical system, make climate and environmental control improvements, and install fire detection and protection in the 1871 Harriet Beecher Stowe House. The project will enhance the stability and lifespan of the house and collections; increase collections security; provide additional storage space; and expand access to significant historical collections for current and future generations. The collections in the Stowe home illustrate Ms. Stowe’s life and impact, and the worldwide response to the novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The museum is an international heritage tourism site, program center, and research library which strives to inspire and stimulate programs and discussion emphasizing the value of civic engagement and American aspirations of freedom and equality.
