Log Number: MA-30-13-0493-13

The University Museum of the University of Arkansas will rehouse its collection of zoology mammal skins to ensure that the storage of these specimens meets the highest standards of care and management of natural history collections while making them more accessible to researchers and faculty. The museum will purchase 11 cabinets and acid-free materials for storage. A zoology graduate assistant and work-study student will assist staff in organizing specimens in proper taxonomical order and updating records in its collections database. The project team will generate updated inventory lists, and properly label specimens. The museum will include updated specimen data in the VertNet national database of vertebrate collections. Improved storage and access will decrease unnecessary handling of specimens, which will help make them available for future generations.
