Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses (Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses)

The Hermann-Grima House and Gallier House museums will develop a plan to improve their interior environments to better conserve collections and the historical buildings from the threats of a hot and humid climate. Climate control and ventilation systems in both buildings are past their functional service life, and a prior conservation assessment identified building preservation and effective climate control as essential priorities. The museums will engage conservation experts to conduct a collections vulnerabilities assessment and preliminary assessment of current environmental management. The experts will also provide recommendations for historically appropriate improvements to the building envelopes and updates to their mechanical systems. The experts will conduct a workshop with stakeholders and the museums’ board and staff to identify objectives and strategies to improve environmental management and collections conservation, incorporating the results into the final Environment Improvement Plan.
