The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art will partner with other members of the Hudson Valley Visual Art Collections Consortium (HVVACC) to conduct planning for a regional visual arts collection study center and storage facility. Planning activities will include hiring a planning consultant; creating a conceptual and financial plan for HVVACC and key programs, including the center; establishing HVVACC as a legal entity; developing a fundraising plan; and producing a detailed guide to organizational development for HVVACC and the center, with a timetable, milestones, and expected outcomes. The project will provide a realistic, actionable roadmap for creating the study center to provide better access to collections; more efficiently use staff resources and funding; streamline collection management; encourage donations of regional art and archival material; better preserve important art objects; and enable area organizations to grow their collections for continued public benefit.
