Pennsylvania State University (Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum and Art Gallery)

The Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum & Art Gallery will electronically catalog and rehouse its geological collection in order to preserve, properly store, access, and use specimens in programming. The majority of 22,000 specimens moved to the museum’s Center for Education Research and Collections in 2008 and have not yet been added to its electronic catalog. The museum will hire a part-time assistant, upgrade its collections management software, and purchase storage materials and supplies. The project will allow the museum to carry out space needs and specimen condition surveys, determine storage requirements, develop new exhibitions, and incorporate specimens into educational programs and outreach activities.
