Morton Arboretum
Log Number: MA-30-13-0432-13
The Morton Arboretum will conduct a comprehensive hydrologic survey to assess subterranean drain tile systems that are impacting the health of significant plant specimens. The museum will compile historic information about the systems, and gather information from current Geographic Information System maps. A contractor will verify the location and condition of existing drain tiles, and assist in developing a detailed budget and plan for repairing and/or removing the system to improve the long-term health and usefulness of one of the most comprehensive compilations of woody plants in North America. The museum will share research and planning information widely with other professionals facing similar drainage issues in forest preserves, wilderness areas, arboreta, botanic gardens, and natural sites.
