Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will conduct a conservation survey of its East Asian textiles. Objects from this collection of 580 Chinese and 187 Japanese textiles have rarely been displayed because of condition issues. As a result, they are little known to Nelson-Atkins visitors or to scholars of Asian art. The survey will result in a prioritized conservation plan for the Japanese and Chinese textiles, which will enable curators, designers, and educators to plan for the publication, display, and interpretation of a collection that the museum rarely exhibits to the public.
