Animas Museum

The Animas Museum will relocate objects from an environmentally unsound lower level portion of the building to a safer, more appropriate storage area. The process will include inventorying, cleaning, digitally photographing, and marking all objects with identification numbers as well as updating collections information in a searchable database. A skilled conservator will provide training to museum staff, volunteers, and interns, and the museum will invite staff and volunteers from area museums to share this training, helping improve collection care throughout the region. The project will give the public, scientists, educators, and students greater access to objects and associated information, protect at-risk items, and allow restoration of museum space that can be used for new programs, events, and exhibits.
