Log Number: MA-255902-OMS-24

The Walters Art Museum will install a long-term exhibition of its Ancient American art collections from North, Central, South America, and Caribbean, spanning from 1,500 BCE to the present. The installation will feature regular rotations of contemporary art by Latino artists living and working in the mid-Atlantic region. Museum staff has assembled a community advisory committee of Latino leaders to align the curatorial vision with the needs of the Latino community in Baltimore. The project will result in a 10+ year-long installation, accompanied by a suite of programs, a publication, and additional online and on-site resources. The exhibition aims to create new ways for visitors to explore how cultural identity in the Americas is rooted in enduring connections between ancient and contemporary peoples and their relationship with the land.
