Memphis Brooks Museum of Art

The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will prepare for a move to a new facility on the downtown Memphis riverfront. This project will build on previous collections assessment work funded by IMLS, of which the assessment reports will be important in planning and executing the move of 10,000 objects. The project team comprised of the registrars, art handlers, and contract fine art movers will utilize custom boxes and crates to pack and move all objects following a pre-planned schedule. Supplemental registrars and art handlers will be hired to unpack and install the items in the galleries or in the new storage area. As a result, the collection will be safely stored in the upgraded collections storage facilities and will enable the museum to improve and enhance its ability to steward its collection for the benefit of the community.
