University of Kentucky (Kentucky Geological Survey)

The Kentucky Geological Survey at the University of Kentucky will stabilize a geoscience publication collection that spans almost 200 years of geological, geographical, and textual data about Kentucky. The project will address limitations to accessing the material in both physical and digital formats by enhancing the digital records; rehousing and repairing at-risk and fragile publications; producing high-resolution scans; and disseminating the digital collection across several platforms. Based on previous work, museum staff will include a new process to note biased and harmful content in the historical documents. These activities will result in improved collection care and ensure greater discoverability and access through online portals for researchers, industry representatives, government officials, and educators.
