Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (Fallingwater)

Log Number: MA-251964-OMS-22

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will improve environmental conditions for its collection of objects and archival materials related to Fallingwater, designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The project will aid in the installation of a new fire suppression system, new HVAC and humidification system, and improvements to the overall security system for the property. Museum staff will work with an engineering firm, a local security services firm, and an HVAC contractor to implement various components of the larger project. Under the supervision of the museum registrar, a paid intern and a collections volunteer will assist staff in moving and storing objects to a temporary storage location, ensuring their care during the project duration, and returning them when the new systems are installed. The project will provide scholars, students, and staff with increased accessibility to collections for research and educational programming.
