Heard Museum
Log Number: MA-251928-OMS-22
The Heard Museum will improve the care, management, and long-term preservation and access to its collection of Native American materials, books, artist documentation, and archival collections. An interior design firm will create an expanded and efficient space for the storage of the museum’s library materials. The museum will purchase and install new shelving systems and contract with a book binder to repair damaged collection materials. Museum staff and volunteers will develop and implement a series of public programs to promote learning and access to the collection. The project will support the growth of the museum’s library with safe storage conditions and result in increased public access to its collections for exhibition, programmatic, and scholarly purposes. Upon project completion, a local Tribal leader will be invited to perform a Blessing of the new shelving unit and the newly improved space.
