National Museum of Mexican Art

The National Museum of Mexican Art will digitize and provide online access to a collection of mid-20th century Mexican outfits and textiles with cultural, artistic, historical, and anthropological value. The project will focus on the Sandra Cisneros Textile collection, which was donated to the museum by the author and National Medal of Arts awardee. Project activities will include digitizing 78 outfits in the collection; selecting and digitizing an additional 70+ objects that connect with and inform the collection; and making the images and associated data accessible through the searchable art section of the museum’s website. The museum’s curatorial staff will facilitate the project with the assistance of a contract photographer and a part-time intern. The project will make this collection accessible to the public and result in greater visibility of Mexican art, culture, and artists.
