University of Pennsylvania (Morris Arboretum)

The Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania will advance the management and care of its collections by digitally mapping and cataloguing the plant collection and making it easily accessible through mobile and online devices. The arboretum will update its plant collection management software, using a hybrid platform that integrates GPS locations and allows the collection to be mapped, cataloged, and made publicly accessible online. Project activities will include creating a georeferenced base map, software acquisition and data migration, software configuration and customization, and photographing and cataloging the collection for the public-facing application. The arboretum will also fill the position of plant records manager to serve as project manager. The project will improve database functionality to support access and use of the collections by both staff and the public.
