Taft Museum

The Taft Museum of Art will improve the documentation of its permanent collections and make them fully available and accessible on its website for a broad audience. Museum staff will work with a contracted photographer and two art handlers to document the entirety of works in the collection including European and American paintings and sculpture, Chinese porcelains, and European decorative arts. Following a refresher course on best practices in art handling, the project team will review existing digital images, photograph 558 objects, enter new data and correct existing data for 790 objects, upload new images and object files, create new fields for the website, and promote the project externally.  The project will provide the museum with greater intellectual control over the collection and improved searchability through the online collections portal for both internal and external users.
