Pomona College (Benton Museum of Art)

The Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College will improve access to its permanent collection by expanding the information available for approximately 8,500 objects. Project activities include updating collections records by incorporating photography, bibliography, exhibition history, provenance, and conservation information. This added content will also make the collections more discoverable through the resulting addition of keywords and separate but linked exhibition and publication records. In addition, subject matter experts will identify approximately 500 key works to receive additional interpretation, as well as detail or multi-view photography. The added content will make the collections more discoverable and accessible to broader audiences and allow staff to fulfill the museum’s strategic vision to elevate access to and engagement with its permanent collections.
