Log Number: MA-249712-OMS-21

Plimoth Patuxet Museums (formerly Plimoth Plantation) will develop and implement “History in a New Light: Reimagining Wampanoag and Indigenous Museum Education,” a series of educational programs, resources, and events responding to increasing demand for nuanced and fact-based histories told from indigenous perspectives. Programs will include regular hands-on programs and conversations with indigenous educators, two festivals, and a monthly lecture series. The museum plans to evaluate and revise their current K-12 educational offerings, with particular attention to diverse cultural perspectives, national social studies frameworks, and best practices for remote and in-person learning. They are also updating the Plimoth Patuxet Digital Classroom curriculum with three new Indigenous programs and updating the museum’s website with corresponding educational materials and resources for educators.
