Children's Museum Tucson

Log Number: MA-246013-OMS-20

Tucson children's Museum will launch Aprendemos-an Equitable Approach to Learning (EAL) program to provide equitable, play-based opportunities for underserved children in Southern Arizona. The museum will partner with local school districts, foster agencies, and others that support refugee populations, as well as local food and diaper banks. A new position of community engagement specialist will translate existing programming into Spanish and design and facilitate new multilingual activities. To support children attending Title 1 schools, the museum will increase the number of its Adventure Learning Tours and present community engagement programs in surrounding communities. Local teachers will engage in professional development training, taught by museum staff and partners from Planetary Science Institute. Foster and refugee families will participate in Discovery Nights, featuring extended hours and reduced admission, allowing parents who work to play and learn with their school-aged children.
