Oakland Museum of California

Log Number: MA-20-15-0148-15

The Oakland Museum of California will create a forum for community engagement to inspire residents to consider a central cultural district for Oakland, California. The museum will lead a two-year planning process to foster conversation about the community, its needs, and its future, resulting in a comprehensive plan for designing and executing new arts and cultural elements in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the museum. The project will benefit the Oakland community - residential, business, educational and social - as community members create a shared vision for a vital, creative center for the region. The museum will work with the San Francisco Planning and Research Association, the City of Oakland Public Art and Planning Departments, the University of California Berkeley's School of Environmental Design, and a range of local stakeholders to address the urban planning challenge.
