Historic Charleston Foundation

Historic Charleston Foundation will evaluate its educational program, "Living History: The Charleston Classroom," to ensure its continued relevance as an important resource for local teachers and students, especially for those in underserved communities. Staff and education professionals will help determine the degree to which teachers feel that the foundation's educational programs stimulate purposeful learning of social study instruction. They will also examine whether the programs positively impact teachers' views that living history will assist them and that it helps their students to become curious learners about the history of Charleston and connect with Charleston history through personal experiences. Using evaluation and programmatic modification to ensure effectiveness, the program will help shape Charleston's future leaders' understanding of the rich history that surrounds them.
