Oregon Historical Society

Oregon Historical Society (OHS) will partner with Oregon Black Pioneers, Oregon Jewish Museum, Oregon Nikkei Endowment, and Southern Oregon Historical Society to develop the OHS Learning Portal, a single space that will fulfill two distinct functions: (1) a hands-on, interactive learning area featuring artifacts, stories, digital content, and experiential learning activities that appeal to the motivations and needs of younger guests and families; and (2) a classroom for OHS' education staff to use with visiting school groups for interactive learning workshops that augment the current docent-led tours. The project will present opportunities within the museum for intercultural dialogue and collaborative interpretation that promotes a more holistic exploration of Oregon's shared historical story. OHS will evaluate the project through periodic surveys, at least two focus groups, teacher evaluations, visitor exit surveys, and visitor interviews.
