Bay Area Discovery Museum

Log Number: MA-10-14-0387-14

The Bay Area Discovery Museum will train 500 prekindergarten through grade 5 educators through its "Building Blocks of Creativity" professional development program. The program will provide tools to develop foundational teaching skills for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), the inquiry-based learning process, and creative thinking. Through relationships with California school districts, the museum will recruit an annual cohort of educators to participate in a two- to three-day intensive summer program and attend a series of follow-on trainings throughout the academic year. School administrators and parents will also participate through evening lectures and educational sessions to develop a support network for the educators involved. The program will serve as a model of a highly collaborative process between informal education institutions and school districts that will be flexible enough to replicate in different communities.
