Massillon Museum will develop a traveling exhibition about Dr. Nelly Toll, an artist and writer who survived the Holocaust as a young girl in Nazi-occupied Poland. By showcasing Dr. Toll's art and early life, the museum's goal is to prompt discussions about contemporary issues such as bullying, genocide, abuse of power, and the value of art in sustaining hope. Designed with 21st century learning in mind, the exhibit will engage visitors by using several interpretive strategies involving, a documentary film, interactive elements, and the watercolors Dr. Toll created when she was in hiding during World War II. A teacher training module for various grade levels will accompany the exhibit.
