Log Number: MA-10-13-0337-13

The Carnegie Museum of Art will conduct a prototype project to make the history and context of its collections more accessible to visitors through the use of a digital interface. The museum will transform existing collection data into a useable, accessible, portable format and publish it online. It will create dynamic and interactive visualizations of provenance data for 19th-century paintings and sculpture to enhance visitors’ experiences of art. The museum will document and share the prototyping process with colleague institutions and invite a select number of museums to participate in a private prototype. Based on these efforts, it will create an online home for the project’s technical framework, providing access for other institutions and developers to discuss, implement, integrate, and further develop the public interface.
