The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art will implement Access Matters, a two-year project designed to expand educational programming for Pre-K – 8th grade students, teachers, and families in the Berkshires. Target audiences will have access to thematic exhibitions and related programs in its Kidspace gallery, studio space, and main galleries; artist residencies in the schools, and pre-visit classroom activities. In addition the museum will stage Art Assembly performances, establish a bus fund to offset transportation costs, and provide teacher activities guides to prepare students for their arts experiences. For families, the museum will offer free public hours at Kidspace, free biannual family guides, and scholarships for art classes and camps. For the broader community, the museum will sponsor a Free Day and partner with the Northern Berkshires Community Coalition, Pittsfield’s Boys and Girls Clubs, and the YMCA to provide transportation for area residents.
