The Strong National Museum of Play

Log Number: MA-10-13-0179-13

The Strong will fabricate and install a 4,000-square-foot Figurative Play zone as one of four interpretive zones within its America at Play exhibit. This project will build on the museum’s experience installing two other zones with design schemes that incorporate interactivity and chronological and thematic interpretation. It will make the museum’s dolls, stuffed animals, toy soldiers, and action figures more accessible to visitors, educators, and researchers. The exhibit will showcase how figural toys have changed over time and how those changes reflect and influence American culture, helping the public learn about toys in relation to social and cultural history. The museum will enhance the zone with a range of school lessons for Pre-K to Grade 8 and add images of featured artifacts and interpretive content to existing online collections.
