The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture will relocate its archaeological collection from several storage locations to the new centralized repository at the Center for New Mexico Archaeology (CNMA). In this first phase of the project, the museum will move approximately 16,500 cubic feet of bulk archaeological materials (about 90 percent of the collections) to high-density mobile shelving modules at the CNMA. It is a critical stage of a much larger project to survey, rehouse, and relocate all of the archaeological collections to a central storage and research facility. This project will improve management and control of these collections and ensure their preservation and accessibility for research, exhibits, and public programs for generations to come.
