Missouri Historical Society

The Missouri History Museum will hire a consultant who will work with staff to assess the digitization procedures and practices now being used for its Moving Image and Sound Collection, one of the most extensive regional broadcast media archives in the nation. The museum will develop a five-year plan to create 1) a reliable digital workflow for the creation, storage, and maintenance of all audiovisual files; 2) metadata standards that sync with those used in other collections throughout the institution; 3) digital asset management solutions that include cataloging and finding aids; 4) strategies for streaming media online to provide broad public access to archival and born-digital collections; and 5) planning for necessary future migrations of digital video assets to newer and more powerful platforms as they become available.
