Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library

The Winterthur Museum will use its grant to improve virtual access to its textile collections, enabling the increased use of these materials in scholarly research and exhibitions. The project will update the catalog records for Winterthur’s printed textile collection, which includes an estimated 6,000 individual objects representing approximately 1,200 different designs. As a result, the museum will continue to move toward its goal of Web-based accessibility for important collections of the decorative arts. Winterthur’s staff will continue to work to provide virtual access to objects from Winterthur’s collection through its Web site and other collaborative online projects. By making collections available to the widest possible audience, the museum will provide greater public access to the wealth of educational information that can be gleaned from the collections.
