The Robert Hull Fleming Museum will expand the use of its collections by making a core portion of them available online. The Fleming Museum’s collections comprise more than 23,000 arts, anthropological, and material culture objects that span the history of human civilization, from early Mesopotamia through contemporary America. The grant will support the next phase of the museum’s “Collections Access Project,” with the goal of making its diverse collections more readily accessible to the University of Vermont community, scholars, and the general public. By inventorying the collection, updating and expanding its documentation, and photographing key subcollections to support curriculum and research, the “Collections Access Project” will strengthen the ability of the Fleming to be an essential learning resource for the University of Vermont and the community.
