KCTCS (Appalachian Archive)

Log Number: MA-05-11-0323-11

The Appalachian Archive will develop a collections management and risk management plan to better fulfill its mission and demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and practices. The archive will also catalog and digitize an extensive backlog of objects and make them accessible through an online public access catalog. These collections include the Benham and Lynch Photography Collection of over 2,000 prints and negatives taken by company photographers and community members during the construction and early years of two coal camps, the Oral History Collection of over 1,000 audio cassettes of interviews with residents of central Appalachia, and the Dr. James Golden Collection of over 8,200 objects. The final product will be a free open-access online public access archival catalog with multiple entry points. The updated catalog will be made available online through the college’s Web site and linked through the Kentucky Virtual Library.
