The Berkshire Museum will research and catalog its collection of about 30,000 natural science, art, and historical objects. The results will provide greater access to and better understanding of these collections for the museum’s staff, the public, and the scientific community and support future exhibition, research, and public programming. The project will focus on the museum’s collections of minerals, mollusks, and Japanese and Chinese objects. The museum collections include natural science, fine art from the 14th century to the present, local historical objects from the 18th to 20th centuries, as well as objects representing American and European history, antiquities from ancient Egypt, the Middle East, China, Rome, and Greece, and ethnographic material representing Native American, African, and Oceanic cultures.
