San Jose Museum of Art

The San Jose Museum of Art will complete, consolidate, and organize collection records into a computerized, searchable relational database that includes approximately 1,500 individual artworks and related documentation and research files. This project will address the need to provide active access to the permanent collection and to increase broader awareness and public use of its collection of modern and contemporary art. The expanded database will be integrated with the museum’s Web site via a virtual Web kiosk designed to deliver an audience-centered, participatory experience. The Web kiosk will increase use of the collection and awareness of the artistic process, promote deeper understanding of art and its cultural context, and provide lifelong learning opportunities for diverse audiences of all ages.
