Los Alamos County Historical Museum

Log Number: MA-05-11-0150-11

The Los Alamos Historical Society, and its partner the Atomic Heritage Foundation, will digitize and make publically available a large collection of video and audio oral histories on the Manhattan Project and create a searchable online archive entitled “Voices of the Manhattan Project.” This will create a valuable historical research tool and enable both organizations to more easily use these oral histories in audio tours, future exhibits, video vignettes, and other projects. Together, the oral history collections consist of almost 300 interviews with Manhattan Project veterans. Of these, 107 are audio-only interviews and 175 are on video. The oral histories will be complemented by a collection of over 3000 images that will also be digitized and added to the museum’s Web site.
